House rules:
Keep The Holy Spirit IN and avoid Evil squatters!
By Pastor Gertude-Amoah
“When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none. Then it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ So it returns and finds its former home empty, swept, and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before. That will be the experience of this evil generation”
This parable represents the case of all those who hear the word of God, and are in part reformed, but not truly converted. The unclean spirit leaves for a time, but when he returns, he finds Christ is not there to shut him out; the heart is swept only by outward reformation. That is, when one goes through the process of Christianity by putting on an outward show but denies The Holy Spirit access to influence their life.
Instead, they garnished their heart or life by complying with worldly ideas and lifestyle. We must understand that every heart is a potential residence for unclean spirits, except those hearts which are made into a temples of the Holy Spirit, by faith in Christ Jesus.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
So Jesus compares his listeners heart’s condition to that of a man, who, after having had an evil spirit expelled out of him, is again, taken possession of by that spirit, with seven others more wicked than it, and is thereby brought into a worse condition than ever.
When the unclean spirit is gone out of the man ……mind you, not of his own accord or willingly, but driven out by one that is stronger than it. That evil spirit wanders up and down, through the desert… a dry barren and desolate place, according to the Bible.
The desert is a place of discomfort , where temperatures gets too hot during the day and too cold in the night times…( you just can’t win either way😒 )
I will like to say a life not yet watered with the gospel can be equated to a desert land. The evil spirit goes in search for another place to dwell in such an
environment but found none….I wonder why? 🙄 … could it be, perhaps it lacks comfortabilities?
The apostle Paul said something in 1 Cor 9:26…
But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel {and} things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit… 1 Amplified® Bible.
We have a part to play in making our heart and life an uncomfortable place for any evil spirit to dwell…for it needs a body to operate from, especially a comfortable, undisciplined, anything goes kind of life.
For he say, I will return into my house — He resolves to make another attack on the person out of whom he had been evicted: but he says to himself as though it was by his choice to come out ( ‘I will return to the person I came from ) see his pride and arrogance!
And when he came, he finds it empty — Of God, of Christ, of The Holy Spirit. The heart or the life has been swept clean and prepared to receive him, because it lacked ‘The Fruit of the Spirit’( Eph 5:13-26 ) but rather decorated and adorned with vanity and sin.
In other words, he finds the sinner unaffected with his/her so called Christian title or deliverance, but still committed to the lifestyle which makes them a willing dwelling for Satan and his demons. When that happens, it goes look for seven other spirits more wicked than itself ( it appears, there are degrees of wickedness even among the evil spirits ). And by the way, the number seven stands for perfection or completeness, whether of good or bad things.
And they enter in, finding easy access and dwell there for ever, in such a person who has forsaken God. The bible says, their last state, is worse than their first because of the sevenfold stronger evil spirits, now taken possession of them than they had before.
Jesus warns…. So shall it be also unto this wicked generation — Who resist the convictions his doctrine and miracles have raised in us. Instead of growing wiser and better, we will become seven times more foolish, sinful, and miserable…. To that, I pray we’ll take heed to The Lord’s warning and repent.
I like how one bible commentary puts it…
“But this parable is also designed to teach men, in every age, the danger and awful consequences of resisting the convictions produced in their minds by the truth and grace of God; or of grieving, quenching, and doing despite to the Holy Ghost, by breaking through their resolutions, and relapsing into their former sins; the effect being commonly to render them more obdurate/ stubborn and abandoned than before”…. End of quote .
Again…
I pray we take heed of The Lords advice… and Keep the Holy Spirit in house…. To keep All other ungodly spirits Out….
